Historical Society of Arnhemland

The Historical Society was formed by people seeing a need for the capture of historical data before it's lost. The area of Arnhemland is rich in historical data. The oldest most preserved indigenous culture of Australia is still present here. Majority of this web site will although cover the European historical information. We will be slightly touching on the Yolungu culture. Whilst the asociation will be happy to place Yolungu historical information on the website providing all appropriate safeguards are taken to guard the rights of Yolungu people and their heritage.
